Spring 1997

Greetings All,

What a strange spring! The Okame blossoms have come and faded, the roses
are growing, Daffodils, Hyacinths, and even some Azaleas are in bloom.
And it's only early March.

I have A. galeatum about to unfurl it's spathe, A. ringens up 8", A.
sikokianum up 5", and others just showing. It's all too good to be true.
I think it's waiting for the Prunus subhirtella to burst forth and then
WAM! The March ice storm. What a pessimist!

I think we all should persuade Jim McClements to publish his tutorial on
raised beds for Arisaema, Trillium, etc. It ought to be here for us to
reference and for posterity, but many new members of AEG have been asking
for cultural directions. I can't think of a better method than the one
Jim has been using.

He'll be furious with me because I didn't check with him first. But
really, it's great information. Post your persuasion on the Arisaema-L.
This kind of information is what it's for.
