To Greg, Ellen and all:
My situation is the same as Ellen's. I had ordered 100 of each of A.
griffithii which is indeed A. intermedium, A. nepenthoides which 90 were
DOA and one is still sort of struggling as of last night so identification
is uncertain and the A. speciosum appears to be correct but the plants are
very much distorted. Overall the A. speciosum arrived in good condition
but has been very slow and erratic to emerge.

While the Indian Nursery, called Universal Nurseries or something similar,
apparently told Red's Rhodies that they were not wild collected, I find
that hard to believe. The tuber sizes ranged from 1" to over 3" in
diameter or length which often indicates wild collected material. I do not
have a problem with wild collected material per se...just that I want to
know the complete story. I would prefer to obtain only wild collected seed
as opposed to tubers.

I am much more in favor of supporting Mr. Tamang and his operations since
one of his expressed goals is the development of a botanical preserve of
some sort. Just which he had email.

My principle goal is to establish seed blocks so I don't have to import
tubers except of new species or unusual forms. Being a plant breeder I am
interested in hybridization and selection of forms. Hopefully Ellen will
share her secrets for germination as I only have about 50K seedlings <g>.
I have had very good success with seeds this past two years and will get my
information sent to Ray...I have been very delinquent.

I am always interested in obtaining new genetic material but will go about
it in a more conservative way from overseas. Seeds preferably except from
nurseries or individuals who have a bit of history.

We live and learn.

Best Regards,
Scott
