Arisaema and rust

Re Lois's query: I also saw rust among the wild A. triphyllum in our
woods this past year; but what struck me was that only a small minority of
the plants had it, and infected ones were often in close proximity to
apparently healthy ones. Since I haven't surveyed these plants before, I
have no way of knowing whether the low incidence reflects resistance, or
whether it's indicative of the recent advent of the disease. It'll be
interesting to watch these plants in coming years. Meanwhile, I'm keeping
a much closer eye on my garden arisaemas; haven't seen any signs of
trouble yet, but the old complacency is gone!
