Thanks Lisa for the information you've provided on Tr. erectum from your area. I wasn't aware that Tr. erectum flowered below the leaves, kind of opposite of it's namesake. Tr. flexipes can grow either above or below the leaves, similar to some other pedicellate type triliums like the recent discussion on Tr. catesbaei.
Here's a link to some of the Tr. erectum complex of trilliums growing in the wild in Michigan. These are from three different locations, as identified. In location A, there are no Tr. erectum growing anywhere near by. Locations A and B should be fairly easy to identify, but location C might provide some confusion. At one time I thought I knew hos to call these, but now I'm not so confident.
There's much to be learned about this grouping. If it was me and I was looking for seed of a hybrid, I'd be careful as to where it would be obtained and try to learn how the seed was developed.
