[Ipe-discuss] [ipe-discuss] Movie in an IPE presentation

In the past I have spent quite a lot of time trying to embed videos
into plain old PDFs using every Latex package that claims that ability
(and there are several!). Unfortunately none of them really work. The
fundamental problem is that the PDF format doesn't really support
videos. It *does* support embedding Flash, so you can sort of get a
PDF with video in it (and other Flashy nonsense). But the only PDF
viewer that actually supports embedded Flash is Acrobat and how many
people still use that?

I would strongly recommend giving up and going another route (e.g.
adding a link as Otfried suggested).

The best possibility would be if IPE supported HTML export, maybe
using some combination of Ketex, SVG and Remark.js. Then IPE could add
a proper video object that uses HTML5 video. Quite a lot of work to do
that though! And it might be awkward to have an object in IPE that
only works with HTML and not PDF.
