You can also use matlab if you have it. I wrote a page on. The wiki
explaining how to export matlap figures to ipe. Alternatively it's probably
quite simple to write an ipelet to plot a funtion directly.

functions into a PDF or SVG and then import that into Ipe.  That's how
I've always done function plots in Ipe, at least.
