[Arisaema-l] Arisaema-L Dormancy?

I buy that green fencing from Lowe's to discourage rabbits from treating my
garden as dinner. Blue Hawk plant protection fence. I use wire cutters to
remove the end strand so as to allow bare wire ends to stick into the
ground. Also do that on the side if I want to make a loop and bend the ends
around the other end of the fence that it meets to make a circular fence
around certain plants. You can make the dimensions you want with the wire
cutters. I am not sure that rabbits eat large Arisaemas, but I also have
some small seedlings growing around the big plant that I am protecting.

Charles,

I noticed the green fence around your plant.  It appears to be about 15" to
18" high.  Did you purchase that or make it?  Did you paint it green or did
it come that way?

I have had to improvise in order to keep some small puppies from digging in
my bulbs.  For round gardens, I used a 5' welded fence (much the same as
the one you have pictured) and cut it in two to make a 2 1/2' fence.  I
then circled the garden with it and, so far, none of the puppies have tried
to jump over it.  For long, narrow gardens, I have put 4' posts every four
feet.  I then cut my 2 1/2' fence into four foot sections, put a hook in
each of the posts, and then affixed the four foot section of fencing to the
hook, so that it is removable.   This way I have access to an area of the
garden without exposing the whole thing.  That has also proved effective
for small, digging puppies. 

Just some ideas effective for all plants as well as Arisaemas.

I just renewed my USDA import permit for small amounts of seed. You can
expedite it if you visit a local office that can approve you to do it
electronically. You have to go to the USDA site to get directions on how to
do that- a little confusing, but doable.

I am also a seed donor and if you want to do that The Netherlands does not
require any permit to send seeds to Eric. 

I hope my Arisaema taiwanense seed pod ripens soon. My American species are
fast asleep and all seed collected but that one is still going strong with a
green seed pod. See attachments.
