[Arisaema-l] Very early first bloom this year

This plant is blooming in my garden today. It is a seedling of my very first
Arisaema that I bought from Asiatica years ago. It was sold as A.
hachijoense, but I think is now considered a form of A. serratum. Barry
Yinger told me recently that he obtained it from a Japanese nursery and he
was told that they got their material wild from Hachijo Island, Japan. This
plant apparently does not need another plant to make viable seed, as it made
good seed when it was the only Arisaema in the garden. This is the first
seedling to bloom from that "mother" plant. The original plant has not made
seed in the last couple of years, however- seems to be unpredictable for
this one from year to year.
The seedling in the pictures is blooming much earlier than the "mother"
plant next to it which is still coming up in a tall point. As the photos
show, the bloom is out and the leaves are just now unfurling. It also has a
much deeper maroon color in the spathe than the mother plant, which blooms
much greener. This is usually my earliest species to bloom, but never this
early before.
For those with more expertise than me, do all A. serratum make seed without
a second plant nearby?
Anybody have a different opinion about the ID on this one? I planted the
seeds next to the original plant, so I am pretty sure it is not just a
chance garden seedling.
I would be interested in hearing about others' experience with early A.
serratum and if anybody has plants blooming yet.
