Hi Gordon;
I received 6 seeds from the exchange this year and put them in a damp paper towel inside a zip-lock plastic bag on 15-May-12. The first radicle appeared on 08-Jun-12. Today no more seeds have germinated with at least 2 looking a bit mouldy. On 08-Jun-12 I planted out the germinated seed - checked today - no leaf - but I dug down into the soil a bit and the radicle is still viable and appears to be growing.
Cheers...Pat

Subject: [Arisaema-l] Arisaema nepenthoides seed germination needs?
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone in the group has had experience germinating Arisaema nepenthoides seed. Most of the species I have been trying to generate from seed have responded well to being placed between moist sheets of paper towel, then into a plastic bag for pre-germination at room temperature. Successful germination to date has included ciliatum var liubaense, consanguineum, fargesii, sikokianum, taiwanense, and tortuosum. Seeds of jacquemontii, propinquum, serratum and yamatense var sugimotoi have recently been planted using the same strategy, and ought to germinate soon.
The question I have about nepenthoides is if the seed requires chilling/stratification to induce germination. It would be a shame to waste these seeds in an effort to germinate at room temp when placing the moistened seed bag in the fridge for a while would help insure they sprouted.
Any advice at this point would be welcome, especially if someone in the group has had success raising this species from seed.
Sincerely,
Gordon Tingley
