Dear Friends,

I have a recent note from my friend Paiage Woodward of
Pacific Rim Native Plants.

	http://www.hillkeep.ca/Pacific%20Rim%202012%20plant%20list%20Feb%202.pdf

It is only because there has been so much discussion and -
dare I say - confusion on this list over her shipping process that I
can mention a minor change.

Becuase of the quantity of orders she has had and the timing
of these orders, she is now able to offer at least the possibility of
shipping without the need of a USDA import permit. Anyone placing an
order should contact her for specifics, but she is willing and able
if specifics match to carry packets* over the border and ship parcels
from the US (Northern Washington State).

She still requires the minimum order of $50 and you must
still pay for Phytosanitary Inspection ($17), but you will not need a
USDA import permit ONLY if she has sufficient orders on a given
shipping schedule that she can hand carry parcels through the border
importation and USDA inspections. Plants are still subject to USDA
regulation, import inspection and related risks, but you will not
need an individual import permit.

If this is not as clear as I hope it should be. please
contact Pacific Rim N P at the above web site.

Hope this helps some who might have been wavering over US red
tape. Best	Jim W.

* I should note that this is not a minor extra but involves driving
miles to the border and across, going to a US post office and those
hassles. Then the return trip. She is also filling out a lot of
paper work for each order, paying a variety of fees, time and
suffering the hassles of export/import with both Canadian and US
officials. I wouldn't want to do this on a regular basis.
