Most interesting...must be an obscure law in Delaware preventing yours fr=om
having meaningful sex. One of our customers first alerted us to the
possibility of offspring with Pinellia 'Polly Spout'. We checked our pla=nts
and sure enough....those near P. tripartita were producing offspring, whi=le
those more than 30' away from another species remained totally sterile. =It
could be that it only crosses with P. tripartita. We are trying to confi=rm
this now in some isolation blocks with other species.

Perhaps I mentioned this last year, but it bears repeating. Last year, w=e
discovered that Pinellia 'Polly Spout' is only SELF-STERILE. When we gro=w
it within 30' of another pinellia species, it regains fertility...FYI.
Interesting, Tony.
My PPS has been growing within 10 feet of both its parent species for 7-8
years and has never produced seeds.
