Well=2C that particular plant won't be setting seed this year=2C beca=use it=
was male.
I'll be sure to donate seed of anything weird I have that produces it in =qu=
antity.
Now I'm going to have to survey the sex of them all.
Most of the plants in the swamp here=2C and subsequently my yard=2C a=re sma=
ll males that
multiply predominantly by stolons=3B large female plants are few & far =betw=
een.
It may be too wet for them to get sizeable because the really large mama =pl=
ants
are all perched 20 feet up on the rim of the swamp in nearly pure sand. T=he=
folks
below have to endure life in a gnarl of roots=2C rotting leaves and sta=ndin=
g water.
In the wet heart of the deepest part only var. stewardsonii survives in c=lu=
mps
a foot (30cm) around but the plants are a diminutive 4-7 inches (10-18cm)=h=
igh.
