I'd say about 5% of the local tripyllum produce a spadix appendage

that's green inside the tube while the top=2C exserted portion=2C is =purple=
=2C

in the style of A. ehimense.

I did find a very rare one yesterday that's got an inverted color scheme==2C

with a red bottom & a green top. I'll post a picture once I can get a=2=0

good shot.

I swear the swamp was guarding the thing=2C for it grew on a small knot=of =
land

surrounded by thick muck that will bear your weight one moment and then s=uc=
k

your leg in up to your knee the next (it happened). It was hidden amongst=a=
vining

thicket of bull briars (Smilax rotundifolia)=2C and trees of poison sum=ac (=
Toxicodendron vernix)

wove their fingery leaves amongst them. Poison ivy (Toxicodendron radica=ns=
) ran about

the place where the jacks grew=2C but hid from view below young Impatie=ns c=
apensis shoots.

It was so tangled in a 4 inch (10cm) thick matte of solid roots that I al=mo=
st gave up=2C but

in the end I teased it from the earth in one piece. Then I went home=2C=& p=
icked the Lyme Disease

ridden ticks off (may they burn eternally).

Rhode Island swamps are no joke=2C but there's some nice plants out the=re.=
