Arisaema Growers:
We grow many arisaemas from seed, but have been watching a batch of A.
heterophyllum 'Bagou' seedlings that have very black petioles. The leave=s
look very much like A. urashima, which were growing nearby, as compared t=o
typical A. heterophyllum. They flowered for the first time this year and
the flowers all resembled classic A. heterophyllum, which was a surprise.
The flower peduncule is much shorter in all of the black stem forms and t=he
inflorescences have mostly female parts instead of the typically dioeciou=s
A. heterophyllum. In the black stem forms, the cataphylls are very
different, being much longer and more snake-skin pattern, which we never =see
in typical A. heterophyllum. Typical A. heterophyllum always has green
petioles with longitudinal purple stripes. I'm still leaning to these bei=ng
A. heterophyllum hybrids, but have never had an arisaema cross where the
flowers weren't more intermediate. I have several comparison images belo=w
and would appreciate any thoughts.
