I have just uploaded 2 photos to the gallery of the descendents and origin=als of a cross made by Roy Herold about 20 years ago, when only a few of=us had contracted the "arisaema bug".

At that time people were falling in love with sikokianum and some of us wo=ndered why Roy was trying to "improve on perfection".

However, it has become apparent to most over the intervening years that wh=ile sikokianum is almost uniquely attractive, grows "like cress" from seed=and initially does well in the garden, it often is quite short-lived and=frustratingly disappears after one or two years.

I think that you'll agree that the plant I posted the photo of is almost=as spectacular as sikokianum, and it and its siblings have been in my garÞn since 1999.

I'd add that Don Jacobs sold me a sikokianum/takedae hybrid in 1991, but=it has long since disappeared.

Comments?
