There's all kinds of reasons the crosses don't take between the same spec=ie=
s. 

Most of it is probably myfailure as a matchmaker. As you mention=2C try=ing =
to cross

between clones of the same plant is likely to produce abortive results in=m=
any cases.

Sometimes the only available male is an offset of the same corm that's th=e =
useable female.

I try to avoid it=2C but I have'nt taken to storing pollen as of yet.

 

Most of the failure can probably be attributed to weather=2C age & rece=ptiv=
ity of the

female inflorescence vs. how much pollen I actually have=2C when I have=it =
and what

methodology is used to get them friendly. This is only the second year I'=ve=
taken a

hand at breeding. I've had a lot of fun and I expect I'll have more as I =re=
fine my methods. 

Once I perfect mind control over fungus gnats it will be smooth sailing ==3B=
