I have just purchased a ready-planted pot of A.speciosum which arrived ni==
cely
packaged but looking to be in very wet compost. I 'knocked' it out of the==
pot
to examine the corm to ensure there was no rot and re-potted.

To my surprise the corm is enormous - about 80 mm diameter, convex base,= =

and about 30 - 40 mm thick, with the upper surface concave/dished, with t==
he
normal growing point central and active roots around the outer upper edge==
.
No rot .. Aaah! Alas, no pictures, I wanted it back into compost quickly ==
since
it was in active growth.

This looks nothing like the example shown in the image archive which appe==
ars
to have a diameter to length ratio of 1 :3, compared to my corm ratio of ==
3 : 1.
The seller assures me that this is the form taken by the fully mature/mul==
ti-
leaved corm of A.speciosum, but he does not appear to be an experienced= =

arisaema grower since he only had the one species available.

Can anyone confirm that a mature A.speciosum corm should be like this,= =

please?
