Hello - we get up to minus 40 celcius but minus 25 C more common. We also
usually have snow cover before we get consistent minus 20 temps. but the
ground freezes at least one foot deep if not more. I really think this wo=uld
be hardy for anybody as some have overwintered in a small 6" pot above
ground. They also seem to come up from very deep - I had built up a crevi=ce
garden over where I had moved some and they are coming up through that - =at
least 8" deep. However they are very late coming up some years - usually
don't come up unitl beginning of June but can be even later. Maybe that i=s
why many think it is not hardy for them. I received my original plant as =a
division from a friend's Toronto garden in June about 10 years ago and th=en
I planted in my garden right away.
I seems that it didn't do too much for quite a few years, but then like m=any
plants seems to have reached a critical mass and is spreading around. I
managed to get rid of most on the compost heap a few years ago - but stuf=f
just keeps appearing.
