Hi Steve,

Let me add my welcome too. It's always nice to have a new member in our
area. I'm in Westfield, about 30 miles west of you. I have native A.
triphyllum in bloom now, and one A. ringens. My A. sazensoo has sent a
leaf up, but it doesn't have a flower this year. A. kishidae came up a
long time ago, before even ringens, but a rabbit (or something) bit off t=he
top of the inflorescence and then spit it out.

I also have A. consanguineum coming back here, but not yet bloom size. I
have hopes for consanguineum. These won't come up for another month or
so. After several years of flowering, my A. sikokianum (planted in 1999)
has sent up only a leaf this time. A. serratum came up a couple years an=d
bloomed once, then disappeared completely.

A. heterophyllum came back last year after being planted in 2004, but is
not up yet this year. A. fargesii came back a couple years, and it is sti=ll
too early to know if it will come up this year.

I have not had A. candidissimum return here, nor seen any signs of plants
from tubers of AA. speciosum or ciliatum planted outdoors. Growing them =in
pots in the greenhouse is not much better, so I'm obviously not giving th=em
what they need to survive.

Best regards,
Jim Shields
