Like Ann I do not grow these in pots. In the garden, utile, griffithii =
are going to sleep, wilsonii and sikokianum will not be long in =
following them. Elephas is still going strong as is galeatum, speciosum, ==
costatum, intermedium, all are in the same group as griffithii etc.

Neil - I should think it is quite normal. I don't happen to grow any =
of these in pots but they are comparatively 'early risers' and certainly ==
in the garden here griffithii, wilsonii and other related species are =
now dying back. It would also depend how early you got them into growth.

Anne,
Thanks for that. You may be able to answer a problem that I =
have encountered over the last couple of years with sikokianum, =
griffithii, g v pradhanii and utile. By this time of year the last three ==
have already gone dormant and sikokianum is turning.
I start them off in a cold greenhouse growing them in pots, and =
place them outdoors in a shady spot when the flowers have gone over. Is =
it normal for them to go dormant this early?

Neil

Neil - caution with sikokianum outside, I suggest a dryish site. =
It does not appreciate winter wet and tends to rot off up here in the =
west of Scotland even with good drainage.

Hello there,
I have just joined the AEG and would like to =
introduce myself.
My name is Neil Ramsden and I live on the East Coast of England =
just at the mouth of the river Humber.
I have been growing Arisaema's for about eight years now, ( with ==
limited success I must admit ) and having seen the AEG pages on the =
internet I thought that I would join to try and increase my knowledge of ==
these fascinating plants.

The hardiness zone where I live is zone 9, ( that's something I =
have just found out as well ) and most of my plants I grow in pots in a =
cold greenhouse. I have started to plant a few more in the ground over =
the last couple of years to try to reduce the ammount that I am loosing =
to rot, and so far this seems to be reasonably successful. Having said =
that we haven't had any really cold winters over the last few years ( =
-7C is about the lowest it has been ) so time will tell.

I look forward to hearing from other members of the group and =
hope that in time I will be able to contribute as well.

Neil Ramsden
