I have not received any seeds yet, but neither have I received any
notification of confiscations and destruction by the US Customs/USDA.

I import plants and seeds regularly. The rules now in effect require
_without exception_ that seeds coming into the USA from overseas (i.e.,
including Canada) be accompanied by an official Phytosanitary Certificate
issued by the country of origin. In Eric's case, by the Netherlands, sin=ce
the shipment originates from Eric. It also helps to have them accompanie=d
by a USDA Plant Import Permit.

Shipments of seeds that have gotten into the USA without a phyto have so
far just been lucky.

That's just how it is, unfortunately. Negotiations are under way with US=DA
by a group of interested parties -- initiated by the North American Rock
Garden Society -- to modify the rules somewhat. Those potential
modifications have not yet been put into effect. Contact Joyce Fingerut
<alpinegarden at comcast.net>, International Horticulture Seed Exchange
Advocacy (IHSEA) liaison to USDA. There are currently over 35 US and
overseas plants groups associated with IHSEA. I don't see the name of AE=G
there.
