Subject: Rotting aroid tubers
Hi,
I have a problem with some rotting tubers of Arisaema Speciosum and
Dracunculus Vulgaris in both cases the bottom skin of the tuber is rotted
away but the tuber itself seems solid. I dug them because I was suspiciou=s
when they appeared to die back early. The Ariseama was grown in a pot an=d
the Dracunculus was grown in a prepared spot in loose garden compost on
top of a fairly large amount of grit.
In the mean time I have squirted them with yellow sulpher power and put
both tubers in pots of (almost dry) composted bark mulsh and perlite. The
base of the arisaema tuber seems to have dried up nicely but the
Dracunculus is still 'weeping'.
Are they a lost cause and if not what should I do with them?
By the way the seed exchange was great and I now have dozens of little
arisaemas. Thanks again to all concerned.
Kind regards,
David Cowan,
Scotand,
Zone 8 (but wet!)
