Ray - I don't know whether or not you speak from experience here, but the
blotch is (a) only visible if you get down to ground level and look insid=e
the flower, and (b) doesn't in any way look unattractive when you *do* se=e
it - to my way of thinking, it gives it a nice dramatic touch!
I think there's a tendency to value, sometimes sight unseen, the "ends" o=f the
variation spectrum, without asking ourselves whether they're truly
aesthetically superior. For example, to my eye the "white" Arisaema
candidissimum is really not as interesting as the one with good pink
stripes - but we all know which one was "hot" a few years ago...
