Dear Martin,
I shouldn't worry too much about it as consanguineum can have both types of infrutescences. Particularly the forms from Nepal and W Bengal have a tendency to produce upright fruits. You have to remember that consanguineum is probably the most widespread species next to tortuosum and thus deviations from the norm will occur. In flavum the same phenomenon occurs but one thing is for sure, you can NEVER buy true erubescens from China, despite what the Chinese taxonimists keep on saying.... Anything bought from nurseries that can not be directly traced back to a wild source might be a hybrid, which is particularly likely with Sinarisaema. Many nurseries get seeds from seedexchanges so without doing it on purpose, they might sell hybrids which sometimes mess-up proper identifications.
