Gerfried,

I grew thus species here (zone 7 in a protected spot). Of 12 seedlings, o=nly
2 survived the first winter, but they grew on for 5 years and finally
one bloomed.

Thinking these were unusually hardy, I donated them to a major grower
to see if they could be propagate. They both died the first winter.

They grow native in Hong Kong. Perhaps member Shing Lam would
be willing to collect some seeds for you.
