Along the Little River near Little River, NC. The original plant grew in
semi-shade, but yours has been growing in full sun for several years.
They have been blooming and setting seed nearly every year,

You must recognize that "full sun" in NC is really powerful. It'll fry an egg
on most days, and warms you thoroughly on the coldest day in winter.
I really think they would do better with some shade, but hurricane "Fran"
destroyed the Ilex x attenuata 'Savannah' that originally provided shade.
