It likely freezes, when the temp goes to -25 F. Howebver, the plant's own
capability are such that it may even be able to warm the surrounding area,
When it blooms, it generates enough heat to melt the snow around it. It may
also have enough glycerin in its tissues to keep them from freezing. Don't
know, for sure. .
