Thanks, Bonaventure, for you discussion of stressed tuber survival in
Arisaema. My A. sikokianum is planted at the top of a small rise, under =a
couple of small but old Douglas Firs (not native here, of course). It ge=ts
very little light -- no direct sun in summer, because there are also
deciduous broadleaf trees like Red Oak and Sugar Maple growing in the
woods. It seems to be surviving.
I planted two groups of 3 tubers of A. fargesii last summer. All are in =my
usual woodland beds of tops soil, rotted leaves, and sand (ca. 1 : 1 :
1). Two came up in one group, none so far in the other.
I also see no signs of AA. candidissimum, consanguineum, thunbergii, or
urashima. I understand the candidissimum are likely to come up later. I
think I have probably lost the others.
So I'm interested in seeing what seeds I get from the exchange will produ=ce
here. I will probably need more greenhouses soon.
I received three small Arisaema seedlings labeled "111258 AAC 1999" --
can anyone decode that for me? The leaves look vaguely consanguineum-lik=e
at this stage.
Regards to all,
