Most pollens I've dealt with -- non-aroid -- are ruptured by osmotic
pressure when exposed to ordinary water.  I assume aroid pollens are not,
since water suspensions seem to serve as an artificial pollinating medium
(at least when humans are the vectors).  The question of why aroid pollen=s
are not damaged by osmotic pressure in plain water has not been addressed=,
that I've noticed.  (My skills at searching the archives are not much
better than random meanderings thru the files, I find.)

I suppose one does it this way (with water) because one can!  It does hav=e
the problem with leakage, which I'm not dexterous enough to control.  Onc=e
I've learned to make pollinations in aqueous suspensions of pollen, I'll
venture to try other approaches perhaps.  Still and all, it's a fascinati=ng
variation on pollination techniques.
