Ray,
Sprouting is good after 5-6 months. This is when taiwanense tuberlets and
consangs start to push out shoots. Triphyllum tubers and tuberlets will try
to grow after 3-4 months. Taking them out sooner makes them languish and
turn to mush. 1st dormancy [saxatile x tortuosum] tuberlets grown under
lights this winter are still dormant from March and April of this year. Is
this a result of too cold fridge temps? I don't get freezing in the
vegetable crisper but I'm also sure my fridge is not too warm as my food
stays fresh a long time. (NO fruit kept in the refridgerator). I'll check
with a thermometer.
This past May I planted a mature flavum from 2000 seedex first time
outside. Prompt sprouting gave me the huskiest of this mini species I've
ever seen in person. I didn't feel like starting it indoors again in the
late autumn last year. The tuber had been refridgerated since May 2002 (1
whole year).
Thanks,
Bo

Bonaventure,
Most strange. Refrigeration for unly 1 month has worked for many of us,
lthough 2 months is better,
Have you checked the refrigerator temperature? I run mine at exactly
40oF,
Ray
