Mary,

Haven't noticed that. When the stems folded on the Kaichen plants here
there was no tuber left, just mush, if that and there was no seedhead.

I have had to rescue seedheads on the late setting species like
Sikokianum and candidissimum, but that was to prevent frost damage.
