Check it out! There are a number of products which are fired clay, and =therefore vitirified, i.e., ceramic, like glass. . Kitty Litter is not =one of them. To my knowledge it is not fired, merely dried, and has been =used for oil spills in garages for years. It is simply dried clay. =When it absorbs water, it tends to disintegrate. Turface absorbs water =and does not break down.. . From the little I've been able to =check on the Internet in about 20 minutes, There are equivalent =products to Turface, sold under different names.

Slate may have been clay at one time, but it is metamorphosed, and no =longer the same .
In any case, Check out the Walmart product by adding water and doing =the necessary experiment. Kitty litter turns to mushy non-draining =stuff fairly soon. like a lake bed, absorbing water, but not draining =well, and cracking in the summer. Turface keeps its granular shape, =allowing water to flow between the granules.

Above all, don't believe me. Check me out. I make errors too. Adam in =Glenview ZOne 5a
