Subject: Re: hybridization, finding pollen

Diane,

First you have to have a "male" plant. Then wait for the spathe to open
and
pour DI water in the top, catching it as it runs out the escape hole at
the base.
Now pour this pollenized water in the top of a female spathe again
catching the residue
for the next attempt.

Don Jacobs (Eco Gardens), one of the most prolific Arisaema hybridizers,
taught us
this trick. He didn't get specific about the timing, but the proceedure
is simple
and one could repeat it every couple of days during the life of the male
spathe.
