Hello all: Not just arisaema perhaps. My consanguineum is just now havi=ng
its spathe begin to dry up and droop . Leaves in fine shape. But Sauroma=tum
venosum just came out of the ground yesteday after 3 days of 90 Fdegrees =.

These are the strangest plants I have ever grown, I think. They come out
like small models of their grown up selves and keep growing until they
achieve their adult size Tulips don't do that, other geophytes that I've
grown, don't do that.

The consanguineum came out with all its leaves in an umbrella configurat=ion
with an elongated "hair" poking up out of the umbrella which turned out t=o
be the tip of the spathe. As the plant grew, and the petiole lengthened,
the tip of the spathe was pulled downward between the leaflets, and
eventually came free of the umbrella of leaves. On one of the hottest
days, I came out to find the stem bent down and over at a 90 degree angle=-
concluding tht the plant was wilting, I pured water on it. I watched it
pull itself back up. Other plants that wilt like this don't recover quit=e
so fast. IO could lmost see it. The entire 25" plant was erect in about=40
minutes , apparently no worse for its experience with drought. Is this
within expectations? Adam Fikso in Glenview, IL USDA Zone 5a
