People,
Paul, you are absolutely right!. Before everything get's out of hand, let=us
step back and look at what really happened. As I understand, Keith only
recently started using e-mail. Because of that he probably didn't realize
the impact his original request would have on a mailing list with 190+
recipients. What happened after Keith's request was very unfortunate but =it
has happened, period. We can all accuse eachother of everything but it wi=ll
get us nowhere. It has happened and we must learn from that so that next
year, the Seedex is handled differently. Eventhough the words Ray used in
his reaction to the e-mail mess were somewhat out of proportion, he proba=bly
used them because he thought the work of the volunteers was unjustly
treated. I can not speak for the other reactions to the e-mail mess but w=ith
my initial reaction to my stuffed mail box, I was NOT reacting to the wor=k
of a volunteer, I was referring to the huge number of e-mails and the rea=son
behind that. Through my e-mail I was hoping that no one would post a simi=lar
request to the AEG in the future because mailing lists are simply not
suitable for this. Eventhough I no longer make use of the seedex, we all
know what the value of a seedex is and many of us have started their
collection through a seedex so everybody knows that the volunteers are ve=ry
valuable. Keith and everybody else involved, keep up the good work!. And
Keith, just because people reacted to your unfortunate miscalculation
doesn't mean the work you do for the seedex is not appreciated!
This unfortunate string of events should however not lead to people leavi=ng
the AEG. I think we learned a valuable lesson here but let us not blow th=is
out of proportion and do it better next time.
Pascal
