The numbers that Heronswood puts on their plants such as DJHC 445=are wild
collection numbers, and do relate to the collection of the original seed
from which the plant was grown. For example, they may list Arisaema
amurense DJHC 445, Arisaema amurense DJHC 446, etc. In the wild, we labe=l
each collection differently, as we found out in China, collections made a
few feet apart that appear to be the same species may turn out to be quit=e
different when grown out. Our wild collections for example would be
followed with A1C-132 for example. Heronswood uses letters for their
nursery abbreviations such as aris-am. I would encourage any collectors =to
maintain this information, as it is critical if you ever have questions
related to the authenticity of the plant., and in comparing the same
species from different regions or countries.
