M. Burack writes on Aroid-l about the cure for temperate aroids not
lasting in tropical areas.

>Real easy way to solve this problem.....when the plant goes
dormant.......put it in your refrigerator for >about 2-4 months....

>Under those circumstances it will be fine..... the reason for the person
in florida who responded and said >that they usually perish after about 2
years is because of the cold dormancy not being respected.

>Many plants (aroids and others) that are temperate and require a cold
dormant period, are easily tricked >by the winter refrigeration.. It
really does work.

I knew someone would try this and report on it. So here it is for you
tropical Arisaema lovers.
With Arisaema, the 2 month period might be better than the 4 month
because they might begin
growing even at 40 degrees. Also, be sure they're neither too wet nor too
dry. Too wet and
the tubers may rot, too dry and they may dessicate.
