If you want to go to the trouble, they probably have a better chance of
lasting if they are dug and stored dry. A. sikokianum, in particular, has=the
nasty habit of disappearing after a year or two, presumably due to winter
rot, even in what seems to be a well-drained situation.

However, I have yet to do that with any species, at least up to now, but =I
admit that I seem to have a few each year that vanish.
