No problem. The theory was developed for animals, and then expanded to
plants. Many more animals than plants switch sex, with the small (young)
ones usually being male and bigger ones becoming female. If fighting is
important in the sex-switching species, while big individuals may turn
male, small ones stay female.
Pascal, you argue against the patchy environment hypothesis for the
evolution of sex change in Arisaema (which suits me fine -- I have no sta=ke
in it). What about the size advantage hypothesis? That find favor with
you or any other AEG member?
We should close this (and continue one-on-one) because other AEG members
