arose when I showed five Arisaema species at the Scottish Rock Garden
Club show in Aberdeen, Scotland on Saturday.

Because I was anxious that the pot of A. flavum did not 'go over' before
the show, I kept it outside uncovered and it was subject to several
heavy rain showers the previous day. At the show I noticed that all the
tips of the leaves had drips of water hanging from them and there
appeared to be active secretion of water taking place. A. flavum is a
species from dry habitats and mine came from a very arid site in Tibet.
Could this be a plant mechanism to get rid of excess water? - has anyone
else observed this with flavum, or with other species?>>

Hi Anne and all AEGers,

This phenomenon I have observed also in my plant of Kaichen 1999 A-05. The
flower resembles Arisaema saxatile as it appears here:
http://genesis.ne.mediaone.net/~rrh/Images/arsax20mh.jpg

I don't know what saxatile's leaves are supposed to look like but they resemble
very closely the leaves of Arisaema flavum in my plant, more paeony-leaf shaped,
rather than what is in the image. I apologize once again for my procrastination
in having my film developed but I hope to submit my own images soon.
To the point, during a period of wet humid weather this plant also excreted
water from the leaf tips. It was indoors under a 250W metal halide lamp and was
only irrigated at the soil in the pot ( and around the rim of the pot only, away
from top of the tuber and the base of the stem, such is the care thet I am
giving it! )
