Jaime,
Thanks for your report on Arisaema seedlings.
On the nomenclature problems:
>>A. flavissimum? = 6 (the label faded and I can't quite read it. I do
not know if this is a valid name,
>>but it is the closest to the scribbles that remain)
You're correct, this is not a valid Arisaema name. There are only 2 that
end in "issimum",
A. amplissimum Blume = A. serratum, and
A. candidissimum W. Smith
I strongly suspect it is the latter since AEG has distributed these and
since the former name
has not been used for many years.
>>1 unknown with no label that may be A. flavum dwarf form.
The proper name would be A. flavum ssp. abbreviatum (Schott) Murata,
assuming it is a form of flavum.
By now, you've probably deduced the rotting problems are because the
tubers were kept
too moist during dormancy. A. serratum and particularly A. sikokianum are
very sensitive
to this especially as they mature.
Thanks again for your report.
OK you AEGers. Jaime has started the ball rolling. Let's here how your
plants have
fared this winter.
