Yes, I guess you're right, hot summers are worse than cold winters. Here,
where frosts as low as -12=B0C are normal, A. griffithii does not show =any
peculiar problem inasmuch as the soil is not too wet.
But after hot days - we recently had temperatures of 35=B0C - some leav=es,
e.g. of A. speciosum var mirabile and young leaves of rhododendrons have
been burnt, even in shade!
Some years ago, when I was trekking in E Nepal, in July, temperatures
raised up to 18-20=B0C at noon falling down to 6=B0C at midnight; and=it was
raining every evening.
