5 leafed A. triphyllum

Was in West Virginia last week, and saw 5 leafed A. triphyllum. The extra
leaves were not lobes, although they were smaller than the primary leaves.
Did not get any plants, (National Park area) but am really curious about
them. It was in an area that has been seriously affected by acid rain.
Don't know if there was any relationship, or if this is just naturally
occurring. Anyone know anything about this?????? Nancy
