Regarding this controversy, I have noticed triphyllum producing stolons in
certain cases, but most plants not producing any although they may have a few to
numerous offsets. It may be clonal variability or certain cultural conditions
that produce this type of growth. A very small genetic change, perhaps the
control of one gene, may be required for this. It does not indicate a great
genetic difference or or seperation to a different species.
