Dear David Victor,
Enormous fruiting spikes are often produced on some forms A. consanguineum
and A. ciliatum. But on the same plants, the "weight" varies from year to
year. It is certainly related to weather conditions, i.e. pollen
production and presence of pollinators.
In any event, this character alone cannot be used to identify a species. On
the other hand, I don't know ACE2031 that could well be in the group of
consanguineum or ciliatum, due to the collecting area and ACE number.
Best regards.
