I have read Guy's paper on the sikokianum alliance (too late, I =confess....) and related topics in Chinese Arisaema and I would say that =Guy has a good point. One thing I cannot judge is whether Pampanini's =Ar. engleri is exactly the plant I have flowering but for now I take it =Guy made a thorough comparison between Pampanini's description and the =Chinese "sazensoo". Is Pampanini's decription available? Could somebody =put it up for distribution? Or is it too much text.

I think I am going to try and find out why Li Heng doesn't seem to treat =Ar. engleri in the FoC manuscript. Since she puts Ar. sazensoo var. =henryanum as a synonym to Ar. bockii, there seems to be thorough =diffference of opinion here about what constitutes Ar. bockii. I tend to =agree with Guy in discarding the name since the type material is too =scrappy to be of any value and the description is likewise insufficient. =

What remains is the plant I have as Ar. du-bois-reymondii, that seems to =differ from my "Ar. engleri" ONLY in colour (green spathe, striped =white) and less prominent, yet unmistably toothed leaf-margins. Guy, any =idea if this could be another than a green engleri? Did Pampanini =describe green spathes as part of engleri or only purple ones?

Cheers all,
Wilbert
