Wilbert,

Having Li Heng's provisional key to the Flora of China - Arisaema would
be nice
if we only had it. I could start the work of revising the Arisaema Page
so it would
be ready when she publishes. As it is, it's just frustrating to know it's
there, but
not here.

I don't know if you've been following the great debate going on in
software. It seems that
a tiny program called Linux may unseat Microsoft's strangle hold on the
operating system
market. It was started by a Danish graduate student, has no big money
developers
working on it.

So how could it be so good? Because it's open-source software. Linus
Torvald
gave the source code away to anyone that wanted it as long as they agreed
to give their
improvements away too. So, with hundreds of programmers finding the bugs,
fixing them,
and adding improvements, it's the most solid and reliable operating
system available for
PCs at any price.

Seems to me there's a lesson to be learned by Taxonomists here!!! If
there had been this kind of selfless
cooperation from the beginning, we wouldn't have the mess that exists.
Couldn't be done
in Engler's day, but there's no excuse today with E-mail and the web.
