I've found the Deno wet paper towel method most useful for checking fertility
of either old or questionable seed. A few paper towels take up much less
space than even small containers and one can see what's happening.. My
experience has been that fertile seed does not rot. If you see mold on the
seeds, you know it's time to toss. The paper can discolor with mold, but that
will not affect a good seed. If a seed appears to be healthy but does not
germinate, one can always put it in a container and wait.
