Winter

Well, it was in the upper teens this morning. But, it got up to 52F this
afternoon and I just couldn't
stand it any longer. Christmas is over and I'm ready to garden. Not so
the weather.

I walked around in the stiff breeze, picked up some tree debris, and
observed that it was a
wonderful year for holly berries. They're spectacular. Even some of the
wild ones have berries this
year.

No sign of Hellebore flower shoots yet, but the Daphne looks like it
might burst forth any minute.
A bumper crop of Rhododendron buds should make late spring a sight. The
Arum given by
Ann Kline has survived the cold and heavy frosts so far. It's bent over,
but very healthy looking.

OK. That's it. The wind chill did me in so I sharpened and cleaned the
pruning shears, then called
it a day. It's hard waiting for spring.
