Dear Group:
I know there is not a lot of arisaemas flowering right now, but I'm still
sorting out things from 1999.
I'm going through notes regarding the discussion last year regarding the
Chinese plants that were identified here as A. saxatile, then later as A.
odoratum. These are the ones with the very fragrant lemon-scented white
flowers with the long yellow spadix. I was okay with this until hearing
Dr. Murata at the IAS meeting, where he showed a slide of this plant. He
said that there were two closely allied species. A. odoratum (with
trifoliate leaves) and A. wumengense (with pedate leaves). All of the
plants that I have seen have seven leaflets which would by A. wumengense.
I have yet to hear anyone else mention this name. So, any comments?
